1981 George Nelson,
FIDSA (1908-1986)
At its annual conference in Los Angeles, California, IDSA honored Mr.
Nelson "for his major, trend-setting contributions to design."
Nelson, as assistant editor of Architectural Forum, introduced
industrial design pioneers to the public in his anonymous article for
Fortune magazine in 1934. From 1945 to 1965, he headed design at
Herman Miller, pioneering in modern furniture design. For more on the
